URB ALT Festival 2011: The Mutants Are Coming!

I'm happy to be able to announce URB ALT Festival 2011.  It gives me and MuthaWit the opportunity to collaborate with one of my coolest musical compadres, Jneiro Jarel.  I'm calling what we're coming up with for this show a mutant strain of hip hop.  The grooves are familiar but we're tweaking them so that they flow in more of a live breath.  You'll see.  The press release is below with all the particulars.  It would be great to see all of you guys out on September 30th at Rebel NYC for this truly important show.

URB ALT Festival celebrates 6 Years in a night of experimental and hip hop fusion featuring MuthaWit with special guest Jneiro Jarel and other artists.

September 20, 2011, NEW YORK, NY - URB ALT Festival, the music/visual arts/film event dedicated to presenting the cutting edge in alternative lifestyles rolls out for the sixth year in New York City.  URB ALT has programmed highly eclectic bills in the past with artists such as Parliament/Funkadelic, Twin Shadow, Kyp Malone of TV on the Radio, Kaki King and writer/activist Farai Chideya.  2011 is no different.  The main performance bill at Rebel NYC on September 30 features the rock/soul/jazz mutants of MuthaWit collaborating with space age Hip Hop maestro, Jneiro Jarel.

MuthaWit’s star is on the rise with new projects including the soundtrack to the feature film “Phlo,” an album of Minnie Riperton songs blessed by her husband Richard Rudolph and an upcoming production boasting legendary songwriter/producer, Leon Ware(Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson, Maxwell, etc.).  Jneiro Jarel a.k.a. Dr. Who Dat? has been incredibly busy working with MF Doom and recording an album in the Democratic Republic of Congo with Damon Albarn of Gorillaz fame.  URB ALT founder Boston Fielder states that “Each year of the UA Fest we try to incorporate another artform.  Some have said we’ve not given Hip Hop it’s due but with Jneiro Jarel it really gets no better.  He’s so on the edge creatively that I call him a Hip Hope artist.” 

URB ALT Festival 2011 remains focused in it’s mission to produce unique low cost or free events to the citizens of the world.
