video premiere: the brand new visual from guadeloupean vocalist malika tirolien – ‘oliassa’

December 1, 2015

Today we’re premiering the new music video from Montreal-based Guadeloupean vocalist Malika Tirolien – for her acapella track, ‘Oliassa’ (taken from Tirolien’s debut album, ‘Sur La Voie Ensoleillée’; and featuring backing vocals from Meryem Saci of Nomadic Massive, Fredy V of Boogie Wonder band, and Jjanice+ of PasaMusik). Tirolien tells us: “Some emotions are too subtles to be described by words. ‘Oliassa’ is the sound of a feeling that can be different for everyone. I deliberately chose to sing it in an invented langage so each listener could have their own experience and choose their own meaning for the song. For me, the song is a call from the ancestors, as if they wanted to share some serious knowledge with us in a profound way that we can only understand with our hearts.” Watch below.
