... the other Black experience

What was it like to tour with "Living Colour?"

It was the best experience of our lives... We were fortunate to have been chosen to open up for "Living Colour" for 4 dates in Sept. "09." The Birchmere" (Alexandria, VA). It was the first night and "Living Colour" are doing Sound check when we pulled in. What a sight and what a sound.. and this is just SOUND CHECK!!! LoL.. This is when we all talked to every member about how hype we were about being on the tour for the selected dates that we had.

Me being a singer.. I've been heavily influenced by Corey and now I get the chance to meet, talk, eat, bullshit with my Idol? Wow.. Our guitarist Gab is having conversation with Vernon, our bassist Kevin is speaking with Doug. Will Calhoun was sharing some of his ideas with us and some of his hardships that he had in the past.. AND THIS IS THE FIRST NIGHT!!!!

We have a video that we'd like to share with you all. As much as I'd like to mention the whole.. "Dreams come true speech..." we busted our asses to get that slot. We bust our asses for everything that your witnessing now.. Hence the name family... "GRIND CITY." You're already a resident of "GRIND CITY," because you too have and still are grinding for the good life that was promised to us. You too are waking up early, going to bed super late or not sleeping at all until you feel secure enough with the level of grinding and hustling that you put in just for that one day..

If we had to point out our favorite moment on the tour which you won't see in this video.. was when we were in Dewey Beach Delaware. There was a problem with our sound check. For some reason... the monitors were not on and the staff were very confused about why this was.. I'd like to call him Uncle Doug now.. Heres why... Doug Wimbish took the time to make sure our sound was equally right.. He stood out on stage with us for an hour damn near to make sure that we weren't getting the short end of the stick. Just because we were the opening band, it seemed like we weren't getting the attention that was deserved. and Doug picked up on that..

Thanx Doug.. and Thanx to "Living Colour" for allowing us to see and feel what it's like to be on tour. It was truly an eye, ear and mind opener for all of us.
