AFRO-PUNK

... the other Black experience

afropunk 2013

I got to Ft Laddie aight. A girl at the school was desperate for a roomate so I hooked up with her. There is another girl that lives there but I never see her. Maybe a glimpse twice a week. We share a bathroom, and sometimes I will hear her in the shower or blow drying her hair then she's out the door again. My main roomie is cool. They are both mad young. 22. Yikes. But we are all in school and doing it .

My car aint workin now. The engine is falling apart. Mechanics say it makes sense to just replace the engine instead of trying to baby it for a few months here and there. I am annoyed at this. It's going to cost $1,000 to fix. Yeah right. It will take a month and a half to save that. Provided my benefits don't suddenly dry up. Wouldn't be cool now that I have no car. I am combing the city trying to find out if there is anyone who can help me get it fixed.

I'm boy crazy again. Being that I see cute ones at school all day long. The caribbean men are nuts for me, but many of them I can't understand when they talk so it's a moot point. I have had two marriage proposals this week. I took a taxi to school and the driver was caribbean. He tells me I can call him to come drive me, and I don't have to pay. NUKKA WHAT??? What, so I'm catnip over night?

Mr Pompano texts but won't make plans to see me. All this time and anticipation for a big nothing. I am sure he is married. It's too bad, because he's dreamy. Oh well.

I have to get mad papers written this week, and start planning for final projects. It's so exciting to be in a city I always wanted to live in. Now to get the car back on the road and some cash in my purse so I can enjoy it.

You guyz! Yeah I wanta. I'm so freaked about the whole thing, and you know how mechanics can smell fear. I'm trying to gather as much info as I can about my car's condition before I make a commitment to anyone fixing anything. Walking in this heat sucks like you wouldn't believe. But look at the bright side. At least I dont live someplace cold.
