Am I surprised that Trump’s cabinet and presidential staff is going to be full of the most rapacious, insidiously patriarchal, and overtly racist folks in politics in business? Nope. But even that couldn’t prepare me for the announcement of Steve Bannon, the white-right conservative and executive chairman of Bretibart News, being named Chief Strategist. The Chief Strategist’s job is to assist the President in developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining their party and platform’s initiatives. So all of the outlandish, racist, misogynistic, xenophobic objectives running wild throughout Trump’s campaign will be steered by an public, prominent white supremacist. What worries me most is about what measures will be put in place that don’t immediately show themselves to be racist. The dormant, generational trauma inflicted on people of color and other marginalized communities because of the policies these men will dream up. Prayers up homeys, it’s gonna be a long 4 years, and it hasn’t even started yet.
