... the other Black experience

Why Are We Just Getting By When We Could All Be Getting High?

Androgynous cyborg persona

individuality's erased

duality's an archetype

for the modern human race

ambiguity's the norm

the fulcrum functions without form

information never trickles

always the torrents of a storm

overwhelms us

overtakes us

sensory struggles to adapt

to the overload synapse

nerves frayed to near collapse

the edge

life as we know it

is balancing the ledge

the medium is never happy

mildly adjusted at it's best

mediocrity we expect

ambivivalence we accept

cancerous dogma afflicts collectively

with all due respect

and regret is so familiar

like a member of our clan

affectionately remembered

like graying parents that are grand

bold is he or she that stands

at the threshold of reason

and does the unreasonable

when sanity is in season

abandon is needless

doubt is a fetus exhumed

from the womb of despair

let inspiration find no tomb

let it refused to be subsumed

by a banal non-existence

socially prescribed roles

place holders for the soul

swarm about in netherworlds

where all the dreams go to die

I dredge my passion from the wrethches

in the opposite of skies

and find no comfort in the lies

mask myself in no disguise

why are we just getting by

when we can all be getting high?

absorbing energy and vibing

frequencies unperceived

chemicals internal

mimics effects of crumbled leaves
