I rarely like to overly describe songs and pieces--I figure the song should be enough in regards to telling the story--but this song titled FRE'TONES is a bit different. Its two separate performances, one in May 2007 the other Jan 2010 in studio vocal tracks. FRE'TONES originally was an instrumental song I did starting 2006 for all my solo performance, using loopers and delay samplers such as Digi-tech DFX9 & then later on the RC-50. The song never sounds the same due to when ever I play FRE'TONES its all about the spirit of the song and where it wants to move.
So on May 5, 2007, I performed live at an event called Choco Late Souffle ANAWHATHAPPENEXT production. The organizer & founder of the event--Sistah Afrikan Hempress a.k.a Sistahlrc Jacob-- caught it on video. I took the video after listen to the song and realized, the spirit of the song took me in a place where it was free never planned, but then hearing it 3 years later, I really enjoyed the movement of the song and wanted to free style over the song as is...... So I went into studio with the audio track from the video and started to proceed with the free style as well on the lyrics. Every track--meaning Lead and Back up Vocals--were on a first take as is, plus I felt the need to be even more creative and bring a camera along for the vocal recordings.....Enjoy
