Info from Ms. Diallo: “As a photographer, I’ve always had a keen passion for taking portraits, and I’ve been photographing people that inspire me to create iconic images since 2009. I’m motivated to understand the often-tenuous relationships between science, anthropology, religion, mythology, and folkloric tradition, and I explore these topics in my work. I also feel the drive to express a vision where all of my subjects are connected to their soul and what makes us human. This idea, of a unique universal essence for all mankind, is the subject of my new book. Portraits: New York is a collection of black and white photographs that I’ve been developing for the past 5 years. Until now, this work has been entirely self-funded. However I’ve reached the next step for this body of work, and I need your help. I’m seeking funds that will be used to organize the images into a cohesive, published book. The book will be 16″ x 22″ and run 200 pages with over 100 photographs, including a limited edition signed cover. The total cost to produce the book is $22,000. I would appreciate any contribution you can make and encourage you to take a look at the rewards I’m offering as a thank you for helping me bring this project to life. Delphine Diaw Diallo”
