Flaming Lips & Erykah Badu - The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face

*** Update - June 6th 2012: Video pulled ***
Erykah Badu posted this:
OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM WAYNE COYNE/Flaming Lips
"The video link that was erroneously posted (...) of the Music Video 'The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face' (...) is unedited and unapproved. (...) We, the Flaming Lips, accept full responsibility (...) It has outraged and upset a segment of fans and we apologize if we offended any viewers!!! This video (...) is not meant to be considered an Erykah Badu or Nayrok (...) approved version.”
***********
The video for Erykah Badu's collab with the Flaming Lips is here... and it's erotic (you've been warned).
Some say it looks like an experimental art school project. Others wonder if there were too many bath salts in the tub, causing everyone involved to be high...
What's your verdict?
The song is a cover of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" (made famous by Roberta Flack).
Note: the most revealing shots are of Erykah Badu's little sister Nayrok's body, not her own.

It was groovy, don't be afraid to show it. And if badu didn't like it, why she made it?

We agree Trysta and she said she called her sister to do the stuff she didn't want to do: Sooo, I invited Nayrok , my lil sis and artist, who is much more liberal ,to be subject of those other disturbing (to me ) scenes .

I mean, when it comes down to it, edited edition released or not, it was filmed, and when one signs up to be filmed for something, one should understand the potential for that material to be seen somewhere...there is some personal responsibility which needs to come into play here...It seems that Erykah was speaking up for her sister primarily (since she was in a much less controversial state with nothing exposed), but even still, if those segments of her sister weren't supposed to be a part of the video/seen, then perhaps those parts shouldn't have been nude from the get go...let's be real...if the issue was the exposed vajayjay, then maybe she shouldn't have agreed to be nude from the waist down...but what do I know? I'm no videographer...just my humble opinion...

So are you thinking that Nayrok didn't know that it was supposed to look like semen? I think that's what Erykah might have been talking about when she said she refused to be in a tub filled with whatever Wayne was talking about but called her sister who she figured would.

@Shinji. I agree 100% Whether or not that was supposed to be semen, you know that's the first thing someone would have thought. It was very rude of TFL to do this without consulting with them both. If they release the real finished product, let's hope they don't make anymore boo boos

I guess sometimes when you show up at a studio and get naked for the cameras and follow directions, porn just happens to be the result. If Erykah felt like she didn't like the concept from jump, she probably should've said "I'm gonna have to pass on this one.". As she said though, lesson learned. We've all hopefully learned a lil more as we've grown.

The part with the semen was disgusting. The fact that that wasn't how the video was supposed to be makes it even worse. TFL should have had at least a semblance of respect for Erykah and Nayrok. You can't trust anyone these days smdh

Neither Erykah nor Nayrok knew TFL would do this. They're really pissed.

The video and the song are pure crap!!!!!!!! And mrs Badu should think about her kids before doing that kind of nasty bullshit things, this is ridiculous... Friends of her son will tell him his mother is a crazy b****, poor boy...
