‘free cece’ documentary trailer

Check out upcoming film ‘Free Cece’, a new documentary about Cece McDonald – the trans woman who, during a vicious transphobic attack, ended up killing her attacker in self defense. Instead of being acquitted, McDonald ended up spending 19 months in prison (forced to spend part of her sentence in a men’s prison).

Featuring (and produced by) ‘Orange Is The New Black’ actress Laverne Cox, the film aims to confront the issues of trans-misogyny and the epidemic of violence against trans women of color. Also, AFROPUNK member and trans woman Jordana LeSesne has been chosen to score the film (LeSesne like McDonald is a survivor of a transphobic attack).
